12-Week Professional Remote Operator Program

Program Overview

The Fast Track Drone Pilot Program at HACC, Central Pennsylvania's Community College, is a hybrid program that includes in-depth instruction on Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) safety, regulatory certifications, and provides hands-on flight experience to prepare participants for a career in UAS. Multiple industry certifications will be earned from this streamlined curriculum, which can be completed in as few as 12 weeks.

Certifications Available:

1 - Remote Pilot Certificate (From the Federal Aviation Administration)
2 - Visual Line Of Sight (VLOS) Operations Ground Certification - Safety Level 3 from USI
3 - VLOS Operations Flight Certification - Safety Level 4 from USI
4 - Certificate of Completion (From HACC)

Program Duration / Schedule

    • Duration: 12 weeks of intensive, full-time study
    • Structure: Combination of online (day and evening sessions available) and instructor-led activities, including an on-site training residency at HACC's Harrisburg Campus

12-Week Professional UAS Maintenance Technician Program

Program Overview

The UAS Maintenance Technician Program at HACC is a hybrid, fast-track program designed to provide foundational knowledge and practical skills in the maintenance of small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS). The curriculum emphasizes Group 1 aircraft weighing less than 20 pounds and aligns with lower-risk operations conducted under Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Part 107 regulations. Students receive in-depth instruction on sUAS classification, control systems, data links, payloads, electrical theory, inspections, and preventative maintenance, paired with hands-on experience to prepare participants for entry-level and advancing careers in UAS maintenance. Multiple industry certifications are earned through this streamlined program, which can be completed in 12 weeks..

Our 2-Day Part 107 Exam Prep Workshop is designed for individuals who want the fastest and most effective path to earning their FAA Remote Pilot Certificate. Through live, instructor-led training, hands-on exercises, and interactive discussions, students gain a deeper understanding of the material than self-study alone can provide. The accelerated classroom format keeps learners engaged, allows them to ask questions in real time, and builds the confidence needed to succeed on exam day. .

The workshop covers all topics required by the FAA to pass the Unmanned Aircraft General (UAG) examination, including regulations, airspace, weather, and Aeronautical Decision Making (ADM).
