Why this training?

USI is widely recognized as the premier training provider in the drone industry as an ASTM Approved Training Provider. USI provides third party validation of competencies and skillsets received through training.  The goal of this program is to both prepare you to work in a new emerging tech industry but also ensure your confidence in applying your new skills.

This training is an ASTM Approved Training Provider program for remote pilots aligned to ASTM Standard F3266.  Students will also earn:

  • FAA Part 107 Certification, which is required to legally fly for hire. 
  • USI Safety Certification: Level 3
  • USI Safety Certification: Level 4

What will I learn?

  • Ground School Part I: Covers FAA regulations, UAS theory, weather, airspace, and basic unmanned aircraft system components and performance issues.
  • Ground School Part II: This course teaches mission planning, focusing on crew roles, risk management, and operational procedures.
  • Primary Flight School: Introduces manual and automated flight operations using small UAS in simulated and real-world environments.
  • Advanced Flight School: Offers complex mission scenarios, use of internal ground control stations, and integration with larger operational teams.

How is the program?

The program includes:

    • Two virtual class sessions per week, each lasting 3 hours
    • These virtual sessions are held over two separate days each week.

Additional details:

    • Coursework lasts 8-10 weeks depending on pacing and live in-person flight training schedule.
    • Plan to dedicate approximately 7-8 weeks to work through the online, self-paced content.
