Are you looking to fast-track your career in emerging technology? Consider the commercial drone industry!
 
Tom P. Haney Technical College (Haney Tech) and the Unmanned Safety Institute (USI) have partnered to offer accelerated unmanned aviation training. Open to beginners and serious hobbyists seeking a career change.
 
Drones, also known as unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), are now utilized across various industries, including agriculture, transportation, energy, waste management, healthcare, insurance, mining, public safety, and arts and entertainment. They are essential for surveying, inspection, delivery, spraying, tracking, filming, and photography. The potential commercial applications for remote systems are almost limitless.

FULL SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AVAILABLE FOR THIS PROGRAM. 

PROGRAM DETAILS

USI instructors teach the UAS Bootcamp in a hybrid format, including full and part-time online learning options. This allows participants to complete most of the coursework from home. The program includes in-person flight training, which takes place on-site at Haney Tech.

Certifications Earned:

  1. Remote Pilot Certificate (from the FAA)
  2. VLOS System Operation Ground Certification (from USI)
  3. VLOS System Operation Flight Certification (from USI)
  4. Safety Level 1 Certification (from USI)
  5. Advanced Unmanned System Operations Ground Certification (from USI)
  6. Advanced Unmanned System Operations Flight Certification (from USI)
  7. Advanced Safety Level 1 Certification (from USI)
  8. Advanced Safety Level 2 Certification (from USI)

TWO OPTIONS:

FULL-TIME 16-WEEK BOOTCAMP
  • Duration: 16 weeks of intensive, full-time study.
  • Structure: Combination of online and instructor led activities, including two weeks onsite at Haney Tech.

Curriculum Breakdown

  • Weeks 1–3: Block 1: Aeronautics (Part 107)

  • Weeks 4–6: Block 2: Mission Planning

  • Weeks 7–9: Block 3: Flight Training

  • Weeks 10–12: Block 4: UAS Technology

  • Week 13-14: Block 5: Human Factors

  • Week 15-16: Block 6: Safety Management

Program Schedule:
  • Start Date: Monday, January 20, 2025
  • Application Deadline: Monday, January 13, 2025

Sentaero Training
 
NINE MONTH BOOTCAMP

  • Duration: Flexible schedule, online learning to be completed within 9 months.

  • Structure: Online modules can be completed at the participant's pace, followed by in-person UAS flight experience.

Curriculum Breakdown

  • Weeks 1–6: Block 1: Aeronautics (Part 107)

  • Weeks 7–12: Block 2: Mission Planning

  • Weeks 13–18: Block 3: Flight Training, Onsite @ Haney Tech

  • Weeks 19–22: Block 4: UAS Technology

  • Weeks 23-27: Block 5: Human Factors

  • Weeks 28-32: Block 6: Safety Management

Part-time students are expected to complete one module per week. Each module includes self-paced materials, a progress check, and a synchronous lesson with a USI Virtual Instructor. At the end of each block of instruction, students must pass a proctored exam before advancing to the next block.

Eligibility and Cost

• Total Cost: $12,425 per student
Includes all certification exams, virtual instruction, course materials, and two weeks of flight training at Haney Tech.

Thanks to funding provided by Haney Tech, and USI, this program may be available at no cost to you. You will be required to complete a 2024-25 Federal Application for Student Aid (FAFSA) to qualify for scholarships and funding.
