The PAST Foundation has partnered with USI in a collaborative effort to reach High School, CTE, STEM, Community College, and Technical College Teachers and Instructors throughout Ohio.

The Introduction to Drone Technology Fast Track Program for Ohio Teachers consists of:

  • Four Courses:
    Part 107 Exam Prep
    Foundational Course 1
    UAS Ground School
    UAS Flight School

  • Each participant will receive:
    • Access to online learning management system (LMS)
      • Includes content, practice exams, and learning aids
    • Access to digital workbook
    • FAA Part 107 Study Guide
    • Digital Badge for each Certification earned
    • USI Instructor Safety Kit (numerous handy and essential items to promote drone safety)
    • One year license to UAS simulation software and required controller
    • Use of leading commercial drones during on-site flight training and certification test

✨Ohio TechCred recognizes USI Credentials:

  • Foundational Course and Part 107 Exam Prep Course qualifies for reimbursement up to $2,000
  • UAS Ground and Flight school qualifies for reimbursement up to $2,000.

The course opens October 1, 2025 in an online, self-paced, virtual instructor-supported offering. Applications will be accepted through March 1, 2026.

Knowledge-based, self-paced curriculum runs through May 31, 2026.

Multiple offerings available for an in-person, 3 day / 2 night, hands-on flight instruction in various locations throughout Ohio. One session will be held in each month, June, July, and August.

USI Certifications are also recognized on the Innovative Workforce Incentive Program (IWIP) at 6 Points each for:

- Small Unmanned Safety Institute Certification Level 1 (CR67)

- Visual Line of Sight Systems Operations - Flight Training (CR68)

Online instruction supported by USI Instructors. These hybrid live instruction programs can be completed from the comfort of your home.

Three options for flight training will be available and will take place in Ohio over three days each month in June, July, and August 2026.

PLEASE NOTE: Those outside of Ohio are welcome to apply, however, in-person flight training takes place in Ohio. Also, Ohio TechCred Funding is only available to Ohio Employers.

When does the flight training take place?

The in-person flight training takes place in Ohio at a TBD location over three days in June. 

If you are unable to attend these dates, alternate arrangements may be available. Please keep your USI Instructor informed if you are unable to attend the June 2026 dates.

What happens if I can't make the in-person flight training dates in Ohio?

The in-person flight training takes place over three days and we have multiple trainings scheduled - one in June, one in July, and one in August at a location to be determined. We do our best to identify locations that will be most convenient for those participating.

If you are unable to attend these dates, alternate arrangements may be available. Please keep your USI Instructor informed if you are unable to attend any of the June, July or August 2026 dates.

Are Travel and accommodation covered under this program?
No - Travel and accommodation are not covered under this program.
I don't have any drone experience, can I still take part in this program?

Yes! If seats are available, this program is available to you.

I don't live or work in Ohio. Can I apply?

Yes! It is $4,000 to complete the program. 

This was designed for those in the state of Ohio due to funding that is available for reimbursement from Ohio TechCred. 

If you do not live or work in Ohio, please note that the in-person flight training will take place at a location to be determined in June, July, and August 2026. There will be multiple options available so that you may select the one that is most convenient for you. 

Travel expenses are not included in course fees.

What is the recommended timeframe for completing each certification course?

We've seen that it takes on average about 40 hours per certification - or around 2-4 hours per week depending on when you start the program. While the Fast Track is not hard, it is not easy, either. It does take a time commitment.

How does payment work?

We accept purchase orders paid by either credit card or check. 

If you do not require a purchase order, you may also pay via credit card or by check.

Tuition must be paid in-full before you will receive access to the coursework.

Do I have to start the coursework as soon as the course opens?

The knowledge portion of the coursework is self-paced. The course is available to complete between October 1, 2025 and must be finished by May 31, 2026 in order to attend the in-person flight training.

On average, users set aside around 40 hours per certification. You are welcome to complete the coursework at your own pace.

Online instruction is supported by USI Instructors. This hybrid live instruction program can be completed from the comfort of your home.

Can I pay for myself if I plan to get Ohio TechCred reimbursement?

If you plan to apply for Ohio TechCred funding, your employer must pay for the program.

Do I Need To Wait For TechCred To Approve This Ahead Of Registration?

No. You do not need to await approval from Ohio TechCred before registering and submitting payment for the program. Ohio TechCred recognizes these certifications and will provide reimbursement for the program costs. If you have any additional questions, please reach out!
